The first year of WOMADelaide becoming an annual festival, now moved from February to March in an effort to avoid some of the searing Adelaide summer heat. 2003 introduced the first All-Star Jam (later to be called the All-Star Gala) and remedial therapy/relaxation area 'The Sanctuary' (now known as The Healing Village). A fresh-faced The Cat Empire played their first of many festival appearances at the WoZone club at the Adelaide Uni Bar. And Stage 5 moved... again!

Highlights - the amazing, 80 year old Madosini, Ernest Ranglin, and the inimitable Rachid Taha.

"Lying on the grass in Adelaide's beautiful Botanic Park, surrounded by huge and ancient fig trees and listening to great music is as close to heaven we can hope for in this lifetime ..." - Bruce Elder, The Age

"It remains a long, curious, fascinating journey of discovery" - David Sly, The Advertiser
