Alexander Flood
Australia
One of the nation’s most creative young drummers and percussionists, Alexander Flood’s ecosystem of rhythms, instruments and sounds takes inspiration from the music of North and West Africa, India, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. Leaning on dance music and trance rhythms, improvisation and urban textures, his latest album The Space Between blurs the lines between different sounds, influences, instruments and cultures. Flood has been the recipient of many awards including the Helpmann Academy Jazz Award for Top Overall Graduate (2018). He has performed with artists including Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah, Marquis Hill and the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, and toured with circus company Gravity & Other Myths.
