An explosive artist who has commanded worldwide attention since their homemade videos went viral on YouTube, Tash Sultana is a one-person powerhouse.
After being given a guitar at age three by their grandfattheir, ‘Tash’ developed a love for an array of instruments and began experimenting, using guitar methods they’d been taught in primary school. They started out playing open mic nights at age 13 (with the help of a fake ID) and, after finishing school, honed their skills by busking in Melbourne’s Bourke Street Mall from 2009-2015.
Tash now has over a billion combined streams, an ARIA Award for Blues and Roots Album of The Year with their debut LP Flow State (its double-platinum single Jungle coming in at #3 in Triple J’s Hottest 100), multi-platinum sales for the Notion EP, numerous gold certified singles and a certified gold debut album: all self-produced, self-composed, and self-arranged.
Although the guitar is their passion, Tash plays more than a dozen instruments including bass, percussion, keys, oud, trumpet, Pan Pipes, sitar and harmonica but it’s their seven-key vocal range and astonishing live shows that have generated the most buzz.
They are the only artist to sell out three shows at the O2 Academy in Brixton, London, and another half a million tickets worldwide, culminating in 2019 in sold-out performances at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado and The Greek Theatre in LA, with stand-out sets at Coachella and Lollapalooza.
Tash Sultana will make their WOMADelaide debut hot on the heels of their new album release TERRA FIRMA - due out on 19 February 2021.
