With beguilingly simple melodies, honest and direct lyrics, Sarah Blasko’s music is steeped in atmosphere and mood.
From the now-classic debut The Overture & The Underscore (2004) through to the stunning synth-laden Eternal Return (2015) and Depth Of Field (2018), her six-album run of genre-defining indie-rock and art-pop is unparalleled.
The subject of the ABC commissioned documentary BLASKO, which aired late in 2017 to critical acclaim, Blasko has written music for film, television, theatre and ballet. She has performed with symphony orchestras, string quartets, electronic duos, and makes up one third of the Seeker Lover Keeper trio with Sally Seltmann and Holly Throsby.
She has won three ARIAs (from 19 nominations), been nominated three times for the Triple J Album Of The Year Award (winning in 2009) and in multiple categories of the Australian Music Prize.
Her WOMADelaide 2021 live set, with a full band, will celebrate the 10th anniversary of her beloved masterpiece As Day Follows Night, which was created over five days in Sweden with producer Bjorn Yttling.
The recently re-issued album, which took out Triple J Album Of The Year and the ARIA for Female Artist Of The Year at the time, went on to achieve platinum status and be listed at #19 in the book 100 Best Australian Albums.
