A true labour of love for partners in life and in music, Bree Tranter (The Middle East, Matt Corby) and Chris Panousakis (Timberwolf, Matt Corby), Siberian Tiger have had a glorious first year or so: releasing their acclaimed EP First Dance, winning the Robert Stigwood Fellowship and the 2020 SA Music Award for Best New Artist. At home in Adelaide and while on tour, the duo created a rich collection of mesmerising, sun-soaked songs that highlight their musical interplay and dreamy vocals.
The EP’s lead single Call On Me is a moody slow-burner that is a warm hand of gratitude placed upon the shoulder of the person that you can count on at any hour, even when you are worlds apart. The universality of finding support in others echoes through the song in every line - “call on me if you’re feeling blue, you can call on me and I’ll see you through”.
“Scuse me while I drift off into the bliss of this collaboration” – Dave Ruby Howe, Triple J Unearthed.
Siberian Tiger’s nostalgia-laden sound is the perfect balm for a hectic life or a lazy afternoon. For their debut performance at WOMADelaide they will perform as a 5-piece band, with a string quartet.
