Hazmat-Modine

USA

Hazmat Modine plays roots-blues that blend the influences from across the world that make up the immigrant nature of American roots music; African, West Indian, European and so on. In this workshop they will perform songs that illustrate the flexibility of the many instruments they play, the various approaches to playing and the sounds that the instruments make, both in combination and individually. Wade Shumann will play a ‘fox chase’, which is a traditional southern harmonica style from the 1920s that imitates the sounds of animals and trains, Joe Daley will talk about the history of the sousaphone and what can be done with it and other members of the band will talk about and show examples of their respective instruments’ sounds.
