Essential Information
We're pleased to announce that WOMADelaide 2022 will return to its traditional, general admission format, with single day, three-day and four-day tickets available.
The event will necessarily operate under the public health measures put in place by the South Australian Government and the conditions of our approved COVID Management Plan. SA Health have given approval to the staging of the festival within a redesigned site layout in Botanic Park, with the key requirement being that patrons follow the basic guideline of ensuring that where you are unable to maintain physical distancing please wear a mask.
This applies to any circumstance where there is a level of congestion restricting the ability to maintain physical distancing. This may include:
- in close proximity to the stages at peak performance times
- in peak periods when queuing for food or drink
- when using the amenities
- in close proximity to "off-stage" performance spaces
Dancing is permitted – the "D" in WOMAD stands for Dance after all! - but once again if you are dancing in areas where you are unable to maintain physical distance, wear a mask.
It is a key condition of our approved COVID Management Plan that patrons 12 years and older are fully vaccinated. This is a condition of entry. Individuals who are not able to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination, or an official medical exemption, will be denied entry.
We encourage all patrons who become eligible for a booster dose to receive theirs as soon as possible and we encourage parents of children aged 5–11* years to secure a minimum of one dose of paediatric COVID-19 vaccine.
*this will not be a condition of entry and the vaccination status of children 5-11 will not be checked on entry.
Patrons with an official medical exemption will need to show their certificate of exemption and provide a recent negative PCR test result no older than 72 hours.
Please speak to your doctor if you have any questions at all regarding vaccinations or exemptions. You can find up to date COVID-19 health information via the SA Health website HERE and advice for accessing vaccination documentation HERE.
WOMADelaide's approved COVID Management Plan will enable the festival to proceed as a COVID-Safe event as close as possible to its traditional format.
The key differences being:
- WOMADelaide 2022 will operate at a 28% reduced capacity compared to previous years. We recommend you purchase tickets in advance.
- We request all patrons ensure that if they are unable to maintain physical distancing – please wear a mask.
- QR code or manual check-in procedures will only be required for the indoor performances of The ASO's Silence, and Slingsby's The Memoryologist.
- The above COVID-19 vaccination policy.
- The festival grounds have been re-designed to provide even more open space for audiences.
Due to ongoing international travel and quarantine restrictions due to the pandemic and the timelines required for planning, the 2022 line-up will showcase predominantly Australian and Australia-based artists, but will still feature a small but stellar international contingent of touring artists. We're delighted that the 2022 program nonetheless exemplifies the talented mix of diversity, discovery and eclectic musical flavours for which WOMADelaide is renowned.
Each adult ticket purchaser is entitled to bring up to two children 12 years and under for free. Additional children's tickets can be purchased at $25 for a festival ticket or $10 per single day. All children are required to be ticketed. Please ensure that you include the number of free children in the ticketing selection when purchasing tickets.

Please contact Diverse Travel for interstate package details.
There is strictly no camping on site at WOMADelaide as the venue is part of the Botanic Gardens of Adelaide.
Adelaide Caravan Park is the closest camping ground to the festival and is within walking distance. There are two other caravan parks nearby, conveniently located along the River Torrens Linear Park that runs past the festival site. Visit the Windsor Gardens Caravan Park and Levi Park websites for more info and to book.
There are many other hotels, motels and hostels available right across the CBD and surrounds, but we suggest you book early as demand for rooms in Adelaide is high throughout February and March. A comprehensive list of accommodation options can be found at southaustralia.com.

At The Festival
Please come prepared! All WOMADelaide bars, box offices, vendors and stalls are cashless, accepting only card payment. Accepted cards are Visa, MasterCard, Diners, or pre-paid debit cards, processing EFTPOS and PayWave/PayPass.
If you do not currently have or use a card, we encourage you to organise a pre-paid debit card before arriving at the festival. These can be easily obtained through many financial institutions, or instore via Australia Post. AMEX or other cards not listed above will not be accepted.
If you wish to bring a chair, only low-standing, beach-style chairs will be permitted. Those who want to remain seated for a performance must sit at the outer edges and rear of the audience areas. For selected performances, the audience will be asked by the stage MC to sit down and, in these cases, those who want to stand or dance will be asked to move to the outer edges and rear of the audience area. Please be aware that "staking" out a spot in front of a stage with chairs or blankets for any performance not designated as a "seated performance" is prohibited as this can become a safety concern when large crowds of people can unpredictably converge at stages.
Thousands of people attend the festival each day and it's an on-the-move crowd, so please understand that you can’t "reserve' a spot. Generally speaking it is a 'stand up and dance' crowd. We also ask that out of courtesy to your fellow festivalgoers you do not leave picnic rugs in the park overnight to "save" a spot, as this is particularly unfair on our single-day pass holders. In addition, for security reasons any possessions left unattended overnight will be removed.
Fundraising is not permitted by anyone on site. If you would like your organisation to have a presence at WOMADelaide please apply to hold a Not-For-Profit Display stall.
Absolutely no flyering is permitted inside the festival grounds or outside the entrances due to our obligation of care for Botanic Park and our zero waste-to-landfill targets. WOMADelaide's distribution of paper handouts is restricted to the official pocket-guide.
WOMADelaide is a SMOKE FREE event and this includes E-cigarettes. This is in keeping with the South Australian Government health regulations that ban smoking from all outdoor dining areas. Smoking is only permitted in designated smoking zones – all other areas of the Park are SMOKE FREE (including E-cigarettes). Cigarettes are not sold at WOMADelaide. Designated smoking areas will be clearly marked on the festival map.
If you have any suggestions or comments, please write to us at info@womadelaide.com.au. During the festival itself, our friendly front of house staff, crowd care volunteers, or Info Booth staff will be able to direct any enquiries. Feedback forms can be found and submitted at the Info Booth.

Accessible toilet facilities are installed where possible along the sealed surface cycleway which runs around the perimeter of Botanic Park, with privacy screening and clear marking to encourage use only by patrons who require accessible facilities.
