Join guest festival artists as they whip up tasty international dishes in the ETSA kitchen in the Providore Café. In an often-hilarious home-kitchen atmosphere, everyone gets to try a bite-sized mouthful and take home the recipe.

In 2004, Taste the World introduced families to delicious international foods, encouraging them to be adventurous, and was a huge success. In 2006 it will feature Coco Mbassi (Cameroon), Jalsa Creole (Mauritius), Tommee & the Neighbourhood (Indonesia) and Renegades Steel Orchestra (Trinidad & Tobago).

  healing village

An oasis of theraputic delight awaits, to refresh your senses throughout the festival. The Healing Village is unique to WOMADelaide and into its fourth year. In 2006 there will be three marquees, the first housing spiritual offering healing, reiki, polarity therapy, Bowen therapy and zero balancing. All treatment is offered on an agreed donation basis with relevant practitioner. The second marquee will be home to some of South Australia's most renowned and respected clairvoyants, tarot readers and spiritual mediums, ready to offer you advice and direction on any subject matter, past, present and future. Readings are priced at $35 per 30 minute session. The third is the massage marquee, covering various techniques including on site, deep therapeutic, shiatsu and aromatherapy - $35 per half hour session.

All of the Healing Village therapists have years of relevant qualified experience so that you can be assured of a thoroughly rejuvenating treatment. Or you can just relax in the chillout area and let the sound of the water feature sooth your senses while breathing in the peace. Demand will be high, so book early to avoid disappointment!

allstar jam
  allstar jam

At 6.45pm on Stage 2 on the Sunday evening of the festival, Johnny Kalsi from The Dhol Foundation will lead around 20 festival artists in a celebration of percussion! As Musical Director, Kalsi, a veteran of dozens of WOMAD festivals around the globe, will pull together an incredible array of musicians, singers and nationalities in the short time before the festival opens. In advance of WOMADelaide, Kalsi was sent CDs and biographies of suitable and available artists. He met with them when they arrived in Adelaide and a number of 'loose rehearsals' took place at the artists' hotel and backstage. The Jam will likely involve an element of improvised music alongside sparkling new interpretations of traditional songs, classics and pieces written by some of the visiting international artists - with a percussive base.
