Since singer-songwriter-guitarist Mat McHugh started The Beautiful Girls in 2002, much about the band has changed, cruising from roots, hip-hop, reggae and soul to pop songs crafted within a bluesy folk core. The current Ziggurats album shifts again, with the beefy reggae rock of Royalty and driving ska-pop influence of In Love.
