the rope story
The Rope Story is an extraordinary initiative developed by Anangu Pitjantjatjara elders as a means of re-focusing young men taking risks with their lives and reinforcing their place in the land and the universe. The making of the “rope” - a fortymetre long sand sculpture - blends traditional culture with a modern context as it uses art to intervene, divert and face contemporary risks, challenges and opportunities. Presented with assistance from NPY Women’s Council and Country Arts SA.
