The Rope Story is an extraordinary initiative developed by Anangu Pitjantjatjara elders as a means of re-focusing young men taking risks with their lives and reinforcing their place in the land and the universe. The making of the “rope” - a fortymetre long sand sculpture - blends traditional culture with a modern context as it uses art to intervene, divert and face contemporary risks, challenges and opportunities. Presented with assistance from NPY Women’s Council and Country Arts SA. These beautiful silk flags have been an integral part of the beauty of WOMAD festival sites across the world. Craig will bring one of his mind-blowing large-scale projections; coming soon to a tree near you! Amanda will create a piece of beautiful Indian ground art, ‘Aussie style’, made from recycled objects; everyone is welcome to help create it over the festival weekend. Innovative urban artist Isaiah creates 3D toys, vehicles and fantastic working radios from wire and discarded scrap metal.
