WOMADelaide 2015 artists dominate "Best Of 2014" lists!

It's been a big couple of months for our 2015 artists, with a swathe of albums being featured across the internet's obligatory end of year "best of 2014" lists! Here is your holiday listening sorted:

- The NPR Best Global Music top 10 features the stunning new release "Toumani & Sidiki" from Malian father and son duo Toumani and Sidiki Diabate alongside the acclaimed self-titled album from The Gloaming. Big congrats to Toumani and Sidiki who also just picked up a "Best World Music Album" GRAMMY nomination!

- The Sydney Morning Herald Best of 2014 features Toumani and Sidiki again and also includes fellow 2015 WOMADelaide artist Neneh Cherry. Neneh's ambitious new album "Blank Project" is her first solo effort in 17 years - check out the brand new filmclip for the single "Spit Three Times".

- The NME Albums Of The Year 2014 – One List To Rule Them All features another notable entrant with Sharon Van Etten's latest album "Are We There" coming in at an incredible number 6! The NME Albums Of The Year 2014 – One List To Rule Them All is an aggregated list compiled from all Rolling Stone, Spin, Paste, Uncut, The Quietus, Drowned In Sound, Stereogum, Q, Mojo, Popmatters, The AV Club and The Guardian best-of's. Quite an acheivement!

- The RoughTrade Albums of the Year features a solid 4 WOMADelaide artists - Sharon Van Etten is honoured again alongside releases from First Aid KitGruff Rhys and Neneh Cherry.

Iain Shedden’s top five albums of 2014 names and sings the praises of C.W. Stoneking's 2014 release "Gon' Boogaloo" as well First Aid Kit's "Stay Gold". Iain is chief music writer for the Australian.

- Finally Lake Street Dive's (crazy good) latest album "Bad Self Portraits" came in number 1 of Radio National's Top Three Albums of 2014.

Palestinian violinist and educator Ramzi Aburedwan recently won the Child and Family Award in the prestigious 2014 Aljazeera International Documentary Film Festival for his doco "Just Play." This touching film explores the music schools and programs run by Ramzi's Al Kamandjati organisation working to replace the daily violence experienced by Palestinian children with the joys of music. Our 2015 Planet Talks speakers have also been making waves around the world. Tim Jarvis, passionate explorer, conservationist and author has just been named a WWF Australia Global AmbassadorSilvia Earle, famed oceanographer and National Geographic magazine's Explorer in Residence was recently honoured as one of Glamour Magazine's Women of the Year and global eco-hero Simran Sethi was invited to moderate high-level talks at the Global Landscapes Forum in Lima, Peru.

Finally, our talented bunch of local artists have also been kicking goals with TimberwolfMax Savage and Julia Henning all being nominated in the 2014 Fowlers Live Music Awards, with Timberwolf taking out Best Acoustic Artist and Julia Henning Favourite SA Artist.
