African Soul and THE TELEMA ENSEMBLE, a vibrant troupe led by Master Drummer Bortier Okoe, bring to life the music and dance of Ghana and West Africa, with a cultural and rhythmical richness, entertaining participants with high-spirited drumming, dynamic dances and charming traditional songs.   African Soul & THE TELEME ENSEMBLE are passionate about nurturing children and encouraging them to express themselves through music.  They believe drumming is a unifying phenomenon that enables us all to connect with one another, no matter what your gender, heritage, age, belief system, ability or disability - everyone loves to drum.  Their energetic workshops are stimulating, great exercise and fun, helping to improve any child’s confidence, co-ordination, self- awareness and listening skills.   When children hear the rhythm of the drum they instinctively respond!  Through creative call and response routines, dancing and stomping rhythms, traditional African songs and of course drumming, their interactive workshops promote cultural awareness and unity, whilst empowering participants through the use of the African drum.
