Six Gyuto Monks are making a flying visit to this year’s WOMADelaide! First seen in Adelaide in 1994, they have built a massive following across Australia and this year’s Beyond Karma Tour will be their 23rd visit to this country. The last time they performed at WOMADelaide was in 2001.

The monks will be in full voice for one performance on Sunday night 13 March from 11.45pm–00.15 on Stage 3. The public will also be able to visit them throughout the festival to sit, to request personal pujas (prayers) or to join them in some calming hands-on tantric art activity.

On the world stage their unique sound has continued to astonish and delight – Grammy nominees in 2010, signed to Decca/Universal Music in London in 2011, performing at Glastonbury Festival in 2013 and about to do so again in June 2016, they have just launched another groundbreaking album of music in an exquisite collaboration of sacred music with Kim Cunio and soprano Heather Lee. The monks provide a glimpse of a way of life which, through its focus, patience, acceptance and absence of judgement, creates people who are free of dissatisfaction and full of human affection.
