THE WORLD COMES TO BOTANIC PARK

The musical world of WOMADelaide is as diverse as it is wonderful. We've travelled far and wide to bring you a selection of artists at the very top of the game that represent the immense and true diversity of musical talent that exists right across the globe. As always there are numerous hidden gems in the lineup that are just waiting to be discovered so take a punt and check out an act you've never heard of and you might just find yourself a new favourite!

Australian Debut Artists

There are numerous groups making their way to our shores for the very first time to play at WOMADelaide 2015. For instance, meet Brazilian poet and singer Criolo (pictured) who has over 1.2 million facebook followers but has never been to Australia! Criolo is joined by fellow Brazilian Flavia Coelho, also on her debut trip down under. Fans of virtuosic Italian groupCanzoniere Grecanico Salentino will be happy - this group formed in 1975, have released 17 albums and are finally gracing our shores. Neneh Cherry's lengthy career has taken her around the world but she is only now making her Australian debut at WOMADelaide 2015!

Many more of our international artists, including the likes of Jupiter and Okwess International(Democratic Republic of Congo), Lake Street Dive (USA), Public Service Broadcasting (UK), Jambinai(South Korea) and Sóley (Iceland) will all be here for the first time in Australia and we can't wait to introduce them to you all!

One Off Shows

Put these extraordinary artists in your diary or mark them in theWOMADelaide app, as our four headliners plus a selection of other acts will be appearing one time only! Rufus Wainwright,Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club, Youssou N'Dour andSinead O'Connor will be closing out the Internode Centre Stage each of the four nights of the festival and a number of other special acts such as The Gloaming (pictured) and Theo Parrish will be performing once only. Look for the little red 1's on the timetable to help plan your weekend.

Australian Artists

Australian artists are constantly punching above their weight on the world scene and our Australian acts this year are no exception! Two exciting collaborations, one between Bärra, Djalu Gurruwiwi and Gotye, and one between Vic Simms and Luke Peacock, The Painted Ladies, showcases some of our incredible Indigenous talent. We're also bringing you the cream of Australian music with acts such as C.W. Stoneking, Willow Beats (pictured) and Astronomy Class among many others.

Our music and dance program contains a number of exciting multi-disciplinary and collaborative works. Don't miss the startling new dance production Cut The Sky by physical theatre company Marrugeku (pictured), the processional dance workThe Colour of Time from French street theatre Cie Artonik, or the captivating work of Live Live Cinema who reproduce live the score, dialogue and foley (sound fx) of classic gothic horror films. The eclectic collaboration Typhoon sees Brian Ritchie (The Violent Femmes) teaming up with Michael Kieran Harvey, Xie Yu Dan, Ma Jia Jun and animator Zeng Yi Gang to stretch the boundaries of the contemporary classical music ensemble. And a special project brings togetherRobert Forster (The Go-Betweens), Jherek Bischoff and Adelaide's own Zephyr Quartet to present a cross section of Robert Forster's catalogue – old, recent, borrowed and new!

Local Talent

Representing the rich musical landscape of our home city of Adelaide are three brilliant emerging groups Timberwolf(pictured), Julia Henning and Max Savage and the False Idols. Don't blame us if you miss them and they end up going and geting all famous!

Also from Adelaide, the nightly chill out zone at Speakers Corner - Electrolounge - will feature four of Adelaide’s foremost electronic artists accompanied by live visual manipulations.

Sylvia Earle and Simran Sethi

A feature of our Planet Talks series will be the panel "Creating Hope: Simran Sethi in conversation with Sylvia Earle", that provides us with a unique opportunity to hear two of the world’s most inspiring environmental messengers discussing their hopes and dreams for our planet.

These two preeminent eco-heroes will also be appearing for a special University of South Australia Hawke Centre lecture on the Wednesday following WOMADelaide. This is a free event and seats are filling fast!
