The Painted Ladies

Australia

The first Australian black protest album, recorded by inmate Vic Simms in Bathurst Gaol in 1973, has been thrust back in the spotlight by a new generation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander musicians. Brisbane singer/songwriter Luke Peacock and The Painted Ladies have re-recorded Vic’s poignant country soul album The Loner, sounding as poignant today as it was in 1973.
