Bassekou Kouyaté is one of the true masters of the ngoni, a stringed instrument found throughout West Africa.  His solo turns with artists such as Toumani Diabate, Taj Mahal and the late Ali Farka Toure left lasting impressions and he has now released two stunning albums of his own with his band Ngoni Ba.
