Womad - The World’s Festival

Line up for WOMADelaide 2012 revealed

29 Nov 2011

The WOMADelaide 2012 line up was revealed today through The Advertiser to an excited Adelaide audience. The 2012 festival will see the return of some festival favourites and legends in the world of music as well as many artists gracing the festival, and Australia's shores, for the first time.

Highlights include The Master Drummers of Burundi, French gypsy troupe Lo'Jo, Ireland's Sharon Shannon Big Band and Indian satoor virtuoso Shivkumar Sharma.

Director Ian Scobie said Womadelaide, which will be held in Botanic Park from March 9-12, had pulled out all the stops to make its 20th anniversary a memorable milestone.  "The 2012 festival allows audiences to relive several of our favourite Womadelaide artists from the past two decades, while discovering some amazing new performers," Mr Scobie said.

There will be a further announcement in January 2012.

PLEASE NOTE: There was a misprint in The Advertiser page 15, Tuesday 22 November which included Youssou N'Dour on the line up for 2012. Youssou was forced to pull out of the festival in October due to his political commitments with the historical Senegalese elections.
