Kungkarangkalpa in the Sky (Australia)

‘Seven Sisters in the Sky’ is an exciting cultural exchange between 20 indigenous artists from South Australia’s remote APY Lands and Angus Watt, the UK visual artist whose stunning flags fly at the festival.  An unique aerial exhibition of 20 original paintings will tell the stories of the Seven Sisters dreaming and be exhibited and flown as flags, with the artists working on new works nearby.

At WOMADelaide 2009, Aboriginal artists from the APY Lands took part in the Three Anangu Stories project, before and during the festival.  The project was presented by the WOMADelaide Foundation in association with Better World Arts and supported by the Community Arts Network SA.
 
Storytelling, song, dance and visual representation merged with spiritual elements to tell Three Anangu Stories.  After five days of artist workshops to capture important traditional stories in performance and recorded form, the artists created two large collaborative paintings at WOMADelaide.  These two magnificent, original 1.8x1.8m paintings created over the three days of the 2009 festival are for sale. 
 
The paintings are for sale for only $3,830 each, including the stretcher frame (also available unstretched for $3,680).  Each painting comes with a certificate of authenticity illustrating the story behind the painting and the project in detail.

80% of the funds raised from the sale will go towards Kungkarangkalpa in the Sky.
