How can I perform at WOMADelaide?

WOMADelaide is an invitation-only (curated) festival with the budget and space to program around 25 international and 15 Australian artists/groups each year, plus a number of street theatre and visual artists. Artists who choose to send materials may only do so between 01 April - 31 July, for consideration for the next festival in March. APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2010 FESTIVAL HAVE CLOSED and no further materials will be accepted.  Please check the website again in late March 2010 for further information.

How do I get a stall?

The festival selects around 100 stalls each year (45 food, 35 crafts and 20 display). Please note that WOMADelaide has a capacity of 20,000 people per day, so stallholders with extensive experience, including work at other large-scale events and festivals, are considered favourably. Vans selling hot chips, Dagwood Dogs etc are not suitable, as the food on offer at the festival is of an international, gourmet nature.

Stallholder information and application forms for the extended four day 2010 festival are available now - see below.

Applications close 4:30pm Friday 23 October 2009.

I'm a student doing an assignment on WOMADelaide, where can I find info?

Refer to Fast Facts and the history PDF. Please note that we do not have the time to answer additional, individual questions from students.

How can I get a job at the festival?

Generally speaking, we fill our contract positions at least 6 months before the festival with experienced staff and do not advertise, but if you have extensive marketing, production or event management skills, email us. For paid bar work, click here.

How can I volunteer at the festival?

We use around 80 volunteers, and start approaching people who have done it before in December. Volunteers receive a Festival Pass giving access to Botanic Park (not backstage) and a souvenir t-shirt. They work at the Info Booth, on the bike racks, during the set-up and pack-up, and occasionally on special projects. Please note that the festival has a team of established and experienced interpreters, artist minders and publicity assistants who work backstage - these positions are not available to the wider public.

Volunteers must be over 18 and resident in Adelaide.

Can I do my tertiary course industry placement in the lead-up to the festival?

We accept 1-2 people a year and only if they are studying event/site/production management, journalism/marketing. Email your resume by the end of August to express your interest.

Can I get work experience at WOMADelaide?

Unless you are doing a relevant tertiary course (see above) we do not accept high school students or others for work experience.

How can I get media accreditation for covering the festival?

Media accreditation applications will be available online from late September 2008. There are a limited number of media passes available for accredited media only. All media pass requests and subsequent approval will be reliant on pre-festival coverage generated.
