| TaikOz is one of Australia’s
most exciting drumming groups. Based in Sydney, the group is led
by shakuhachi (bamboo flute) grand master Riley Lee and taiko player and
percussionist Ian Cleworth (founder of Synergy percussion group)
The group perform contemporary music by Japanese and Australian composers,
exploring a synthesis of East and West, old and new, combining the awesome
power of traditional Japanese drums with the plaintive, ethereal tones
of the shakuhachi flute.
